Can I bring food into the park?

No, outside food is not allowed, except for a small snack. We have a restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, desserts, and beverages. Come and enjoy it! 

Do the packages include lunch?

No, our packages don’t include lunch, but you can enjoy a delicious meal at our on-site restaurant. 

How much does lunch cost?

You can check prices on our restaurant menu.

Do I need to make a reservation for the restaurant?

No reservation is needed —you can walk in and enjoy your meal anytime during your visit. 

Do you have vegetarian options?

Yes, we offer vegetarian dishes and can adjust ingredients upon request.

Where can I get a coffee or snack?

At our El Jardín Restaurant, you can enjoy coffee, cold or hot drinks, and snacks.

Do you have space for groups?

Yes, we have large tables and seating for up to 200 people. Perfect for families or group visits. 

Should I book in advance or can I walk in?

We recommend booking in advance to guarantee your spot, as some activities have limited availability and set schedules. 

Can I change my booking date or time?

Yes, changes are possible based on availability and our cancellation policy. 

What happens if I arrive late for my tour?

Please arrive on time. Late arrivals may lose their spot with no refund. If you expect a delay, contact our team as soon as possible. 

Do I need to pay in advance?

Yes, we recommend paying in advance to speed up check-in. We accept bank transfers and secure online card payments.

Is check-in faster if I pay in advance?

Yes. While all guests must check in on arrival, prepayment speeds up ticket delivery and entry. 

Can I pay directly at the park?

Yes, you can pay at reception. Still, we recommend booking ahead since space is limited.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash and credit or debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover) in USD or CRC. 

Do you accept Apple Pay or Google Pay?

No, we currently don’t accept these payment methods. You can pay via bank transfer, online card link, card, or cash. 

How can I request a refund?

You can request a refund following our cancellation and refund policy or by contacting our reservations team. 

How can I request a refund?

Please email [email protected] explaining the reason for your cancellation. Refunds take approximately 2–3 weeks and must comply with our cancellation policy. 

What are your cancellation policies?
  • Cancellations with 48 hours or more notice: 100% refund.
  • Cancellations between 48 and 24 hours: 50% refund.
  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice or no-shows: no refund.
  • Cases of force majeure will be evaluated by management.
  • The park may cancel tours for weather or safety reasons.

Where can I buy my tickets?

You can purchase them at:

  • Our official website
  • Official offices (Santa Elena or Ira Rosa)
  • Directly at the park (subject to availability)
Can I change or swap activities in my booking?

Yes, changes are allowed in advance and subject to availability. Price differences may apply.

Can I change my activity if I arrive late?

Sometimes, yes —depending on availability. Please notify us as soon as possible.

 Can I switch to a lower-priced activity and get a partial refund?

Yes, if the change meets our cancellation policy requirements.

I booked the wrong package. What should I do?

Please email [email protected] as soon as possible. Changes depend on availability and park policies. 

What if someone in my group doesn’t want to do canopy?

They can enjoy ground activities like the Butterfly Garden, Sloth Habitat, or Reptile and Amphibian Exhibition. 

 Can I split my activities into different days?

Yes, if you notify us in advance. Same-day changes are not valid or refundable.

What happens if it rains?

Activities are only canceled during extreme weather (lightning storms). If you decide not to participate, no refund applies.  

Can I fly my drone in the park?

No, drones are not allowed for safety, privacy, and wildlife protection reasons.

Can I use a selfie stick during the canopy tour?

Not recommended —you’ll need both hands free. It’s only possible at the end on the Superman cable.

Can I use my GoPro during the canopy tour?

Yes, as long as it’s securely mounted to your helmet with a proper holder.

Can I wear glasses during the canopy tour?

Yes, but we recommend using a strap. We can provide one if needed.

Can I wear a cap during the canopy tour?

No, caps are not allowed as they may fall off.

Can I bring a backpack?

Yes, for walks or exhibitions. Backpacks are not allowed during the canopy tour for safety reasons.

Is there Wi-Fi in the park?

Yes, free Wi-Fi is available in common areas.

How can I buy my canopy photos?

Ask at the reception or with your tour photographer. Photos are available digitally or printed.

I bought my photos but can’t download them. What should I do?

If your code doesn’t work or you’re having trouble, please email [email protected] with your ticket number.

Can I bring pets to the park?

No pets are allowed, in order to protect local wildlife and preserve their habitat. Only certified service animals assisting visitors with special needs are permitted.

Can I touch or feed the animals (sloths, butterflies, reptiles, or amphibians)?

No. In respect of our conservation programs and government regulations, touching, holding, or feeding the animals is not allowed. You can, however, observe them up close in their specially designed habitats.

Are the animals free or in enclosures?

Each species lives in a controlled environment replicating its natural habitat:

  • Sloths: Open, barrier-free space designed for comfort and natural movement.
  • Butterflies: Fly freely inside a climate-controlled dome.

Reptiles and amphibians: Kept in safe 360° terrariums for optimal visibility and education.

What do the sloths eat and when are they fed?

They enjoy a balanced diet of tender leaves, soft vegetables, and fresh fruits, designed by specialists. Feeding occurs twice daily under expert supervision.

What kind of sloths do you have?

We have 12 two-toed sloths, cared for by our team of biologists, veterinarians, and nutritionists.

Can I see monkeys during the hanging bridges tour?

Sometimes! Monkeys can be spotted occasionally, though sightings aren’t guaranteed since they live freely in the forest.

Can I visit the sloths, butterflies, or reptile exhibits on my own?

No, all tours are guided to ensure both visitor safety and animal welfare.

Do the butterflies fly freely?

Yes, they fly freely inside a climate-controlled environment that mimics their natural habitat.

When’s the best time to visit the butterfly garden?

They’re more active on sunny, warm days. Tours start at 8:15 a.m. and run every hour until 3:15 p.m.

How long do the animal tours last?

Each guided tour (butterflies, reptiles, or sloths) lasts approximately 30–45 minutes

What butterfly species can I see?

You’ll find 20–30 tropical species, including the Blue Morpho, Monarch, and Owl butterfly.

Do you have venomous animals?

Yes, the reptile and amphibian exhibits include both venomous and non-venomous species, safely managed by professionals.

Are the habitats in the same area?

Each habitat is located separately, tailored to each species’ needs. You can also choose from combo packages like Leaf or Emerald that include multiple tours.

Do you have a hummingbird garden?

No. Due to conservation regulations in Costa Rica, feeding wildlife and using feeders is not permitted. We invite you to enjoy other experiences such as butterflies, sloths, reptiles, or suspension bridges.

Can I only do some of the zip lines?

No, the tour includes all 13 cables. Partial tours are non-refundable. We recommend you decide before putting on your harness.

What happens if I can’t continue the tour?

Evacuation is only carried out in justified cases. If you prefer a more peaceful option, we recommend the suspension bridges or the butterfly garden.

Can I accompany someone without a canopy?

Yes, you can stay in the park’s common areas, but not in the canopy area. 

Can I just do the “Superman”?

No, the Superman can only be added before the tour starts or when booking.

Does the All Day package include Superman?

No, it must be purchased separately.

Are the suspension bridges guided?

You can choose between guided and unguided options. The guided option offers more insight into the flora and fauna.

How difficult is the hike?

Moderate, with safe trails and enough time to explore them at your own pace.

Does the ticket include access to the entire park?

No, each ticket only provides access to the chosen activity

Age or health restrictions?
  • Canopy: ages 4 and up, accompanied by an adult.
  • Suspension Bridges/Habitats: Suitable for all ages.
  • Not suitable for: Pregnant women, recent surgeries, heart conditions, or fractures.
  • Maximum weight: 125 kg or maximum harness measurements (waist 120 cm / leg 75 cm).

How many bridges are there?

Eight suspension bridges, ranging in length from 57 to 157 meters and reaching heights of up to 34 meters

Do you have a hummingbird garden?

No. Due to wildlife protection laws in Costa Rica, feeding wild animals is not allowed. Instead, enjoy our Butterfly Garden, Sloth Habitat, Reptile Exhibition, or Hanging Bridges.

Can I do only a few zip lines?

No. The canopy tour includes all 13 cables and no partial refunds apply. Please decide before gearing up.

What if I can’t continue the tour?

Evacuation is only done for justified reasons. For a calmer activity, we suggest the Hanging Bridges or Butterfly Garden.

Can I wait for someone doing canopy?

Yes, you can stay in common areas but not inside the canopy zone.

Can I do only the Superman cable?

No. The Superman must be added before starting the tour or during booking.

Are the hanging bridges guided?

You can choose between guided or self-guided. Guided tours include detailed explanations about the flora and fauna.

How difficult is the walk?

Moderate. Trails are safe, and you can walk at your own pace.

Does the ticket include access to all park activities?

No, each ticket is valid for the specific activity purchased.

Age and health restrictions:
  • Canopy: Ages 4+ with adult supervision.
  • Hanging Bridges / Habitats: All ages.
  • Not allowed for: pregnancy, recent surgery, heart conditions, or fractures.
  • Weight limit: 125 kg (275 lb) or maximum harness measures (waist 120 cm / leg 75 cm).

How many bridges are there?

8 hanging bridges ranging from 57 to 157 meters in length and up to 34 meters high.

What should I wear to visit the park?

Closed-toe, comfortable shoes (sneakers or light boots). Bring comfortable clothes, waterproof gear during the rainy season, and a change of clothes.

Can I wear shorts or leggings for canopy?

Yes, but long pants or leggings are recommended for comfort and safety with the harness.

What’s the weather like in Monteverde?

Monteverde has a tropical cloud forest climate with cool temperatures all year. Mornings are often sunny, and light rain is common in the afternoon. Selvatura Park can be enjoyed in any season.

When is the best time to visit Monteverde? 

Anytime! The dry season (December–April) offers sunnier days and clearer views.

Does it rain a lot in Monteverde?

Yes, especially from September to November. Rain enhances the forest’s beauty and rarely interrupts activities—only thunderstorms or strong winds may cause cancellations.

Do I need a 4×4 vehicle to get there?

Recommended, but not mandatory. You can reach us with a sedan if you drive carefully. We’re 6.7 km (4.1 mi) from downtown Monteverde.

We offer free transportation from major local hotels.

How do I get to Selvatura Park?

We’re about 15–20 minutes from Santa Elena, Monteverde.

Is there public transport or taxi service?

Taxis are available, but Uber and public buses don’t reach the park. Shuttle service is available with your tour reservation.

What’s the best time of day to visit?

Morning hours are best for clearer weather and better wildlife viewing.

How often is it foggy?

Fog is common in the cloud forest, especially mornings and afternoons—it’s part of the magic of Monteverde.

Is it better to visit on weekdays or weekends?

Both are great, but weekdays are usually quieter for a more relaxed experience.
